Thorpe Park acaba de lanzar su campaña de presentación de la nueva Coaster que abrirá la primavera que viene.
Se llamará SAW-The ride y estará tematizada conforme a la saga de terror SAW. Será la primera Coaster basada en una peli/saga de terror.
Contará con una caÃda vertical con un angulo de inclinación de 100º y tres inversiones.

Tiene una pinta impresionante, cuando estuve ya me perdà Colossus y querÃa volver, ahora ya va a ser re-visita obligada.

The UK's thrill-capital, THORPE PARK, leading next generation film studio LIONSGATE (NYSE: LGF) and TWISTED PICTURES today announced that they will launch SAW - The Ride, the world's first ever horror movie-themed rollercoaster, in Spring 2009. Based on Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures' 'Saw' franchise, the most profitable horror franchise in movie history, SAW - The Ride is the scariest ride in the world. The latest installment in the series, 'Saw V,' premieres on Friday 24th October, and THORPE PARK will be inviting visitors to 'Face Your Fears' on their new terrifying attraction next year.
Like the films, THORPE PARK's new rollercoaster will test the nerve of all who dare ride it and visitors will be at the mercy of the series' master manipulator, Jigsaw. The ultimate test of SAW - The Ride will be a 'beyond vertical' drop of 100º from a height of 100ft, making it the steepest freefall drop in the world. Riders will also endure three inversions that will add another dimension to a whole new experience of adrenaline-fuelled fun for thrill seekers.
SAW - The Ride continues the growth of the 'Saw' franchise as an international cultural touchstone. The original 2004 'Saw' launched a new wave in horror films and introduced a bona fide icon of terror: Jigsaw, the philosophically inclined psychopath with an exacting moral agenda and a genius for gruesome games of survival, 'played' with those he believes have ceased to value and appreciate the gift of life. Ratcheting up tension and invention with each successive film, the 'Saw' franchise has become a part of the zeitgeist while jangling nerves around the world. To date, the four 'Saw' titles have taken in over $550 million in worldwide theatrical box office and their combined gross DVD sales are nearly 24 million units.
Candy Holland, Creative Director for Merlin Entertainments Resort Theme Parks, is the woman behind the ride and arguably has Britain's scariest and most exciting job. She is an extreme thrill enthusiast and will draw on her extensive background in theme park and theatre set design, working with the project team to make it the scariest ride in the world. Candy was also responsible for the creative development of THORPE PARK's Stealth ride, Se7en maze, and Oblivion and Air at Alton Towers Resort.

The new ride will be the Park's fourth major rollercoaster, joining an already impressive portfolio of extreme ride experiences, including Stealth - Europe's fastest rollercoaster, Colossus - the world's first ten looping rollercoaster and Nemesis Inferno - the 4.5 G-force experience.
La coaster puede estar bien, pero no acabo de entender la licencia. Sólo es una coaster, no es una atracción que necesite basarse fuertemente en una historia como una dark ride o un walkthrough, asà que simplemente han pagado por la fama del nombre. Y aquà ya me pierdo, ¿porque tanto vale esta licencia? ¿es tan querida y recordada la saga? Si han pagado supongo que sÃ, que les sale rentable, pero es que me sorprende...
Hombre, a mà la idea me gusta muchÃsimo, sobretodo porque soy una gran fan del terror y las coasters, asà que ver las dos cosas unidas me resulta muy atractivo.
Respecto a que "sólo" se trate de una coaster, no estoy del todo segura. Supongo (y por lo que he leÃdo en otros foros) que la ride estará muy fuertemente tematizada en la saga, y que o bien contará con un pre-show, o unas colas tan tematizadas y metidas en la historia que parecerán un pasaje etc.. Vamos que tal y como pinta la publicidad y la brutalidad de la que hace bandera ésta saga dudo mucho que acabe siendo una coaster "sin más". Por lo menos serÃa lo lógico y a lo que apunta la publicidad, ya que han creado hasta una historia de terror sólo para la ride, como si fuera una pequeña nueva secuela... De todas formas ya se verá ya que también hay que tener en cuenta que puede que la gallina de los huevos de oro de Saw no dure para siempre y que el parque tenga que volver a re-tematizar la ride algún dÃa...
Por cierto la coaster va a ser una Eurofighter (custom) de Gerstlauer, que no lo habÃa puesto antes.
Sobre lo de Stealth, lo comenté en mi review de Thorpe Park, éste parque fue el gran perjudicado por Furius con sólo un año de diferencia y parece que se resisten a aceptarlo... En el photoride y demás publicidad de Stealth sigue apareciendo como la coaster más rápida de Europa. Aunque bueno, también es cierto que la aceleración de Stealth es superior a la de furius y por eso supongo que no lo cambian...

que pena que nunca la vaya a probar x) pero soy seguidora de las peliculas... creo que se han pasado un poco ya... x) a mà me entraria trauma si me montara ahà y viera algo que no me mola... me dan miedo esas peliculas pero a la vez curiosidad jajaja

Me gusta el comienzo, hasta que se llega al lift, con una inversión incluida a baja velocidad... en el footage del Times, con tanto silencio realmente resulta amenazante...
Esto no puede ser justo... por qué se hacen cosas sí lejos de casa y cerca sólo se construyen "Infernos"?? Algún día conseguiremos tener algo así cerquita (En PW, TM o PA, me da igual). Esto lo han hecho para que veamos lo que se puede hacer con buenas ideas (porque el layout no es nada de otro mundo).
